Downloading MMD 9.24 is Quick and Easy! Download MikuMikuDance 9.24

How do I download MikuMikuDance 9.24? Where can I download MikuMikuDance 9.24? Can I still download MMD 7.39? I want the latest DirectX version of Miku Miku Dance.Visit LearnMMD's Video Channel on YouTube: Videos by Reggie Dentmore. Get the latest version of MMD, MikuMikuDance.

Download MikuMikuDance 9.24 it’s Quick and Easy!

I first downloaded MMD 7.39 in August 2011. I used this link ( www.geocities.jp/higuchuu4/pict/MikuMikuDanceE_v739.zip ) to download my copy, but as of 9/28/11 it does not seem to work. So I have added my own downloaded Zip file to my site for you to download:
http://learnmmd.com/MikuMikuDanceE_v739.zip

GET THE NEW DirectX Version MMD 9.24!

Download MikuMikuDance 9.22 from the LearnMMD Downloads page MMD 9.24

MMD 9.24

Designed for newer computers, MMD 9.24 is the latest version of MikuMikuDance:

http://learnmmd.com/MikuMikuDanceE_v924.zip

… and the 64-bit MMD is available, as well:

http://learnmmd.com/MikuMikuDanceE_v924x64.zip

It is a 6.4mb download ZIP file.   I SAVEd it to my Desktop. When you have it, open that zip folder and click the command “Extract All”. I just agreed to the defaults and found a new folder on my desktop containing MikuMikuDance … ready to run. I dropped the ZIP folder into the MMD folder just to keep it. There is no “installing” MMD. It sits in its folder on your desktop, ready to use. If you decide you don’t want to keep it, just drag the folder into the Recycle Bin … there is no “uninstall”.

——- Getting Error Statements? You are not alone!

The “Configuration Error” is mots popular – Try installing Microsoft C++ 2008 … See Below!!

When I started MMD 7.99 on my XP computer …
I get an error message saying that the program is not configured properly for my system:
“failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.”

I tried it on my Windows VISTA laptop …
and got an error message saying
“… failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect”:

I downloaded the new DirectX versioin of MMD 7.96 and it would not run on my XP or my Windows Vista computers!

I did a Google search for “side-by-side configuration is incorrect” … and

The Solution I used on MMD 9.24 May Work for You … Install C++ 2008!

I needed to download and install Microsoft C++ 2008 to get the files my system was lacking .

If you are running a …

32-bit system, (almost everyone runs 32-bit) get your download here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5582

64-bit system, (you KNOW if you are running a 64-bit machine) get your download here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=2092

I downloaded the 32-bit install … installed it using the defaults … did a computer Restart … double clicked MMD 7.94 … and the program opened! I now have MikuMikuDance 7.94 on both my XP and Vista systems.

The “Missing DLL Error” has Two Versions!

Sometimes a user needs to update his/her DirectX files.

Click the Gold Button, way up above, to get your MikuMikuDanceE_v922.zip … a 6.5mb download.

I expect the new version, Miku Miku Dance 9.24, will run well and be able to use the mountains of accessories, models, and effects created for MMD 7.39. I am looking forward to learning about “what’s new” in MMD 9.24.

You may have the missing DLL file error. If so, you need to upgrade to DirectX 9. See the article about fixing this problem: http://learnmmd.com/http:/learnmmd.com/dealing-with-the-missing-dll-error/

You might try a different browser … FireFox sometimes tries to open the target ZIP like “a page” and won’t do it. That problem is just a setting to be changed within FireFox. I don’t remember how to do it.

So … it WAS working and now it’s not? You might Rename your old MMD Folder so that you can download and unzip a fresh copy of the software and see if that works for you. Then replace that NEW Users Folder with your old Users Folder so that you still have all your stuff.

Hello um, I have had problems with the file, like it not being able to open saying “MikuMikuDance795 ZIP file not found” when I saved it to my desktop. It also doesn’t show that it is a folder. Do I need to download something? I used Google Crome and Internet Explorer to save the file and it still wont work.

Do you see the ZIP file on your desktop? Move it from “Downloads” to the Desktop. The folder is called MikuMikuDanceE_v739.zip … Unzip the folder by double clicking on it and choosing Extract All. Follow the defaults to see the MMD folder on your desktop. There is no install process. Just open that folder and double click the little Miku icon. That should do it … Yes??

THAT is a common video gamers problem … Google that phrase and see the many entries. It might still be a DirectX-9 problem. You might try downloading the DirectX9C update from LearnMMD’s Downloads page – other than following the search results on Google, I don’t have an answer. WHEN you solve it … please let us know!

Whenever I download MMD, it opens it with photo gallery. I don’t know how to fix it. Can someone help?

  15. Reggie dentmore
    26 May 2013, 12:06 pm

Opens with Photo Gallery ?? MikuMikuDance.exe is a program … it should not “open” as anything else. Did you double click on the MikuMikuDance.exe icon? … and it opens as something else?

  16. Reggie dentmore
    26 May 2013, 12:14 pm

Try RIGHT CLICK on that ZIP file and choose Extract All … follow the defaults and you should get an MMD folder on your desktop … with the program inside.

I have downloaded both the DirectX-9 and the MikuMikuDance. Once I tried to open MikuMikuDance.exe after I extracted the files, a message opened up and said “CreateDevice Failed!”

  18. Reggie_Dentmore
    30 May 2013, 11:28 pm

I don’t know the answer to that one. That is typically a Gamers problem. Google “Create Device Failed” and you will see many entries. Often it’s a Graphics Board/Video Board problem or a graphics board driver issue. Take a look at some of search those results to see if you can find something to help … and, please, let us all know about it, when you do find the answer! — Thanks! — Reggie

Ah, a classic problem. That, my friend, is lag. It’s usually caused by extra physics. Most of them come from parts that haven’t been cleaned properly. I did a tutorial on this a while back, you can find it here: http://stellathealchemist.deviantart.com/art/PMDE-Tut-Deleting-physics-260074954

    09 June 2013, 6:59 am

If it’s a .dll I don’t think that’s possible… But if it’s a .zip or .rar try using winzip or winrar, or what I use, 7zip.

  28. Reggie dentmore
    09 June 2013, 10:11 am

Yeaa … do not right click on the ZIP folder … Just double click it and Winzip, or something on your machine, will open the folder and there will be a place to click to Extract All.

Create Device Failed is a common Gamers problem. A Google search shows it might be a graphics card problem … maybe need to update the graphics card driver. (Some report that after multiple restarts, the problem fixed itself … maybe the driver got scanned and fixed during one of those restarts?)

  34. LoLnOtNoRmAl

Okay, when the model is dancing(only for a few models) it’s lagging. What to do?

  35. Reggie dentmore
    15 June 2013, 6:43 pm

“Lag” is normal on some systems. It means you are asking more from your computer than it can give! One thing to try is … under VIEW … at the bottom of the list is Limit to 30 frames per second VS Limit to 60 frames per second. Choose 30 frames per second … that’s a reasonable maximum and is the YouTube standard. You may find that your computer CAN render at 30-frames per second. When you Render to AVI … your video will come out fine … any lag will not be apparent in your finished video.

yes i did have an earlier version of mmd that had working mme

  39. Reggie dentmore
    16 June 2013, 1:19 pm

Interesting. How did you do your upgrade to 7.94? I kept my old MMD folder … just removing the old MMD 7.39.exe and dropping in the new 7.94.exe

I then opened the DATA folder inside the new 7.94 folder and did a Select All and Copy. Then I went to my old MMD folder, opened the Data folder and did a Paste … and I said YES to replace existing files. I did the same with the accessories folder to replace the older versions of the standard accessories with the new ones.
My new 7.94 seems to work just fine. I opened old dances that use MME effects and multiple stages … and they play well and look sharp within MMD 7.94 … and they Render to AVI video just fine, too. No problems.

    So … … I wonder what’s up with yours??

Rina … I just tried to download MMD 8.03 from the LearnMMD Downloads page, and it worked fine for me … no error. Maybe our servers were too busy when you tried. You can wait, a bit, and try again or, maybe, go and get your download from the VPVP site … get the one in Section 1.3 there … the file will include the v803.zip name: http://www.geocities.jp/higuchuu4/index_e.htm

When you download MMD, it is a ZIP file you are getting. You will need something to Unzip it. 7-Zip is a free one … I use it all the time … http://www.7-zip.org/download.html is a link to the FREE download. Install it. Open 7-zip, navigate to your MMD zip folder, Click the EXTRACT button on the 7-zip tool bar. Say OK or Yes to the default prompts … you will have a new folder on your Desktop, MMD … Ready to go! You can keep the MMD ZIP folder … or toss it out.

I’ve downloaded MMD 8.03 and I’ve updated the Direct X and everything else. The programs appear but it goes SUPER SLOW and it keeps being non-responsive. I use my older versions of MMD, and they work just fine (as for speed). I upgraded to MMD 8.03 because my model’s clothes sometimes won’t appear or the model itself won’t appear, but nothing works! What do I do?

  67. Reggie dentmore
    05 August 2013, 5:44 pm

Is it super-slow if you use the standard Miku and no stage? … Is it your stuff making it run slow or is there a problem even with the simple models? Having your model’s clothes not appear when using the older versions of MMD sounds like a hint to your whole problem … something else must be going on.

I’ve been using MMD for years so I know all the ropes, but is there a way to download MMD and not have to update my DirectX files? I’m trying to do a project with it on my school computers and it won’t allow me to update them without the administrator’s password… And of course our computers are all Windows XP Home Premium, ew.

Hi Bridget … DirectX is what it’s all about! I, too, am running XP, Service Pack 3 … and I had to install that DirectX Update in order to open MMD 7.39. Now … MMD 7.39 was the first DirectX version … the older versions, still available on the VPVP site, I believe, do not require DirectX. Just for fun, you might try one of those.

I have a problem with the program. I download the MMD 80.3 and when I tried open it’s said “side by side configuration is incorrect” I have Window 8, so can you please help me?

Have you seen our downloads page? There are notes, there, about common Errors and, maybe, how to fix them. ALSO: The VPVP page has links to Microsoft C++ downloads for 64-bit users … THAT might help you. VPVP: http://www.geocities.jp/higuchuu4/index_e.htm

What won’t download? What Happens? If you are using FireFox, sometimes your settings try to open it instead of downloading. I love FireFox and I use it the most … but Try to download the folder using Windows Internet Explorer or Chrome … That might do it for you.

Hey, my MMD seems to slow down depending on what model I open. If I open Backdrops or a model that is good quality, MMD slows down completely, it takes 2-5 minutes to move the camera. PMD Editor/Creator works fine though and is completely fast. Is there anyway I can speed up MMD at all? Thanks!

That is “lag” … Your computer isn’t up to the task of running MMD when you choose those models. You will need a computer with a faster CPU … or, maybe you just need more RAM. I have an old ACER laptop running Windows Vista and it lags horribly, even when doing something simple like playing the Sample.pmm.

Okay I downloaded the New version of MMD i found on here, but whenever i try to open it would do the “the Side-by-side Configuration is incorrect” so i went to get that thing for the 32-bit system and installed that but it still won’t work, Can you Help me Please

You downloaded and installed the C++ redistributables? I am running XP SP3. My machine has C++ 2005 and 2008 installed. Like you, I followed links and installed C++ 2005. 2008, 2010 and C++ 2012, thinking that I would need the latest version. MMD didn’t work. I used the Control Panel_Add/Remove Programs to delete C++ 2010 and delete C++ 2012 … and MMD started working for me.

LearnMMD does have an article about updating your Codec files … it may help!
    http://learnmmd.com/http:/learnmmd.com/updating-the-codecs-for-mikumikudance-7-96/
It says MMD 7.96 … but is applicable to 8.03, as well.

  94. Reggie_Dentmore
    22 October 2013, 6:44 pm

When you download MMD, it arrives in your Downloads folder. Drag-and-drop that zip folder to your desktop. Double-click the zip folder and choose the option “Extract All” and just OK the defaults. That gives you a new MMD folder on your desktop. Open that folder and double-click the MMD.exe file … That IS the program. There is no install. MMD just stays in its folder on your desktop.

Hi, I’m not having this problem but my friend is,ok. I’m not sure if it’s recording or not because when she clicks the ok button a message box pops up saying that there’s not a MMDxShow-> dill in Data folder and that she has to download the newest ver. of MMD but she’s using 8.03 ver. IS she missing something?

  99. Reggie_Dentmore
    23 December 2013, 11:12 pm

MY MMD 8.03 has a MMDxShow.dll file inside the DATA folder in the MMD folder. Open you data folder and see if you have that MMDxShow.dll file.

I have made a copy of my MMDxShow.dll file and I put it into a ZIP folder. You may download it at http://learnmmd.com/MMDxShow.zip

PLEASE let us know if that works for you … just unzip the file and drop that new DLL file into your DATA folder.

  101. Reggie_Dentmore
    01 January 2014, 7:00 pm

Do a Google Search for Create Device Failed … it is typically a “gamers” problem … but MMD is a modern DirectX game … without the “game”! Do that search and see if you find an answer that works for you. Send me an email if you can’t “get it”. reggiedentmore@aol.com

Lily I have trouble with time too.
But think of it this way.
    A normal video is 30fps
So after 30 frames, you get one second. You’re gonna have to use some judgment on how much you’re gonna move your model in a certain amount of frames. Hope this helps :D

    19 April 2014, 10:43 am

Hi again, just a thought, wouldn’t it be easier if I just downloaded MMD9.10 and saved it elsewhere? I don’t have any addons, and it’s not impossible to find my models/animations… Or is there a conflict somewhere that stops this from working?

  114. KillerBeer
    19 April 2014, 11:54 am

As far as I know, there’s no conflicts between installations. Basically, you can just archive your whole MMD folder, then unpack the new version over it. *Then* if you notice some problem, you can come back screaming and we’ll know what the problem is :P. This is the way House uses, so it must work! :D

Seriously, as long as you keep your backups, nothing wrong can happen.

  115. Reggie_Dentmore
    19 April 2014, 5:00 pm

I just open the new folder and see what, if any, new files are in there … and drag-and-drop those new ones into the appropriate folder in my existing MMD folder … and say YES to replace an existing old file.

“The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”

  118. Reggie_Dentmore
    26 May 2014, 6:16 am

One: you have to have *exactly* the 9.0c version of DirectX. Versions 10, 11, etc, while being able to co-exist on the same computer, do not pay the bill for MMD/MME. Confusingly, 9.0c itself had been updated continuously under the same name, so even if you have it downloaded from somewhere, it may not be enough. Getting it from Microsoft site should do the trick, though.

Two: how big in bytes is your MMEffect.dll and where did you get your MME? Try this page: http://www6.atwiki.jp/vpvpwiki/pages/219.html . Scroll it down until you see a link with “MikuMikuEffect x64″ in it.

When I download it and extract like I’m supposed to, and I open MMD, it says “This application has failed to start because it’s side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use command-line sxs.trace.exe tool for more detail.” I don’t know what that means, I’ve tried to download multiple different things that other’s said might help with it, I delete and re-installed MMD at least 5 different times, and it won’t work still. I have the latest(as of October 12th) MMD(ver.9.24), and my computer cannot open the program due to the “side by side configuration is not correct” and is telling me to use “systrace.exe”. Am I missing a file or is this just a DLL error? I have the old 7.39 MMD if that helps my case.

Sam … I sent you an email … take a look. That Side-by-Side Configuration error is a common error … See the C++ 2008 mentioned in the middle of this article, above.
