Make a Smooth Walking Motion in MikuMikuDance

This latest method is the easiest, yet, to make a smooth walking motion in MikuMikuDance. Smooth walking motion starts with a smooth slide motion.

Start by creating a foot-sliding/skating motion to set up the model’s strides. Then go back in and adjust the feet to achieve  the proper “footstep” motion.

The whole smooth walking motion is described in detail with step-by-step instructions and illustrations on my EasyWalk page.

Hey, I’m not sure where to put this since there are different walking tutorials, but I feel this should be mentioned.

I had just downloaded MMD on 7/9/15 and had trouble following the walking tutorials. After an hour of trouble shooting, it turns out that I needed to change the Interpolation curve to linear. Otherwise, it defaults to an S-curve (which is apparently the most useful normally, but not when walking).

Without this step, it completely throws off the walking animation in each tutorial, by making the feet behave oddly compared to the upper body, as the upperbody starts slow, speeds up, then slowly comes to a stop. On the other hand, the instructions for the feet assume the model is walking at a constant pace.
