Download MMDxShow.dll … Direct Show cannot read MMDxShow.dll! There is not ‘MMDxShow.dll’ in ‘Data’ folder. Please download the newest ver. MikuMikuDance. Download MMDxShow.dll from LearnMMD.com … Reggie’s personal copy of that missing DLL file.
As of this writing, Christmas Day, 2013, I do not know if downloading and installing this DLL file will solve the cannot read MMDxShow.dll file error problem; that’s why I call it “Experimental” … Please let us know if it works for you … leave a comment!
Start by renaming your old MMDxShow.dll file (if you have one). Name it something like orig_MMDxShow.dll so that you have the original file saved, if you need it later.
Then, Download MMDxShow.dll from LearnMMD.com‘s DOWNLOADS page. Unzip the folder and drop the new DLL file into your MMD DATA folder, as shown in the picture, above.
Close MMD (if you have it open) and start MMD. Make a quick test … render to AVI and see if it works … … Yes? … No? … PLEASE leave a comment to let us know how it works for you!

Nevermind Reggie, turns out I have multiple MMD version installed, thus confusing the system. Simple reinstall and restard and BOOM the program fixed itself. I’m so happy. thank you so much
hi Reggie! I know you probably tired of replying the same issues people experienced, but I legit need help. I tried basically everything, Directx9 thingy, utvideo, moving and replacing the mmdxshow file… none of them worked.
On my device, the MMD closed itself whenever I click different codec. meanwhile the og avi coded also didn’t work. Is this my limitation? or there is something I missed? I’m new to this. any help is highly appreciated. Thank you _/\_
HellOoOooO, i just installed MMD yasterday just to do silly things, the “””fix””” (lazy fix) im doing is just recording the screen while i play it, i know its kinda bad because it makes the FPS drops if you have a not-very-good PC but its just a temporary fix (and very quick for lazy people) but yeah it also works, i still think its better to Render.
For some reason my MMD says that it cant render but in fact it renders, but the file is corrupected (sorry for my bad english), i will convert it to MP4 (or try) to see if its my Windows Player problem, or it should be a video-compressor problem.

For rendering to AVI, I have been using the UTvideo codec. You can Google it for the download link. DO NOT download the whole ZIP folder.
but DO download this file: utvideo-23.2.0-win.exe … it’s small at about 3MB, or so.
… Open that .exe file on your desktop and it runs on your computer, it downloads and proprly installs the entire UTvideo codec onto your computer.
Then as you Render to AVI in MMD, you will see the many compressor choices included in the UTvideo codec. I generally use the top or next to the top choice… but you can experiment. Search LearnMMD.com for UTvideo and see the many articles about it.

Hello… this issue has been around as long as MMD. I am sorry it’s not working for you, sometimes there is no answer. You will need to use another Codec. I searched for CODEC on LearnMMD.com and got these results… or you can Google it or maybe find MMD forum help. I am using UTvideo, myself… Sorry I have no more…

Make sure you have installed DirectX 9.0c as instructed in the Downloads page.

Ok guys I got this problem and the way I fixed it is by moving the MMDxShow.dll file outside the Data folder and moved it to the same folder where the MikuMikuDance.exe is.
