An Experimental Fix for the
Cannot Read MMDxShow.dll Error
Download MMDxShow.dll …
Download MMDxShow.dll from LearnMMD.com … Reggie’s personal copy of that missing DLL file.
As of this writing, Christmas Day, 2013, I do not know if downloading and installing this DLL file will solve the cannot read MMDxShow.dll file error problem; that’s why I call it “Experimental” … Please let us know if it works for you … leave a comment!
Start by renaming your old MMDxShow.dll file (if you have one). Name it something like orig_MMDxShow.dll so that you have the original file saved, if you need it later.
Then, Download MMDxShow.dll from LearnMMD.com‘s DOWNLOADS page. Unzip the folder and drop the new DLL file into your MMD DATA folder, as shown in the picture, above.
Close MMD (if you have it open) and start MMD. Make a quick test … render to AVI and see if it works … … Yes? … No? … PLEASE leave a comment to let us know how it works for you!
Editors Note 04/18/2017: The MMDxShow error sometimes can be triggered by lack of necessary MS Visual C++ Redistributable packs. If you downloaded the proper .dll file from our page, placed it where it belongs, and still are getting the error, make sure that you have them installed as instructed. |

what aplication should i open it with? im so confused… i just wont work..:(
You do not open it with anything… just place the MMDxShow.dll into tne folder indicated in the article. Please see the other comments, here… the answer may be in there for you. … yes?
OH THANK GOD IT WORKS
There’s actually a separate 64-bit version of MMDxShow. Try this one: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cxqvyx21m2737iy/MMDxShow64.dll?dl=0 (remove “64” from the filename), and see if it works for you.
There’s also a bit of Google lore I can’t verify right now (I’m on a different machine) but you may try it too: “If you use a 64-bit version of Windows, you should also place MMDxShow.dll in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ “
HI downloading this didn’t help! I’m so worried that it’s broken~ can you guys please help!?
Elizabeta … a previous comment said this: … If you are running the MMDx64 … maybe try the regular MMD instead …: This didn’t work, but I have something else that might!
Since I run a 64-bit operating system, I got the 64-bit version of MMD. I got the MMDxShow error when trying to export videos to .avi. I tried out the normal version of MMD (32-bit), and I didn’t get the error!
Please try this and tell me if it works for you!

Hello. I had this issue too, but I resolved it by going to the MikuMikuDanceE_vsuchandsuch, where the Data Folder and UserFile are located. There, I also saw another shortcut to MMD. Using that shortcut instead of anything else enabled the program to render successfully. Maybe the program can’t read MMDxshow.dll and other data from other locations?
Regardless, it works for me at least. Take it as you will.
I FIXED IT!!! when i first downloaded it i dragged it to the desktop DON’T! drag it back and it worked for me this goes for all the mmd add ons two such as pmd
Wonderful! Exactly how does that work; what did you do to get it to work for you?
